Summer is here and already 2017 has been quite a year for everyone at SomeOne. We’ve always believed that a great creative practice needs to follow three simple rules:
1. Do great work.
2. Make enough money to keep the lights on.
3. Have fun.
Summer = time to ramp up the third rule!
We’ve done it every year since we started.
A whopping party, once a year, to bring everyone together at SomeOne, ban any talk about work and have as much fun as is humanly possible.
It used to be a winter party that took us to Copenhagen, Barcelona, Paris, Hamburg, Reykjavik, Berlin & Oslo, but we got too chilly after doing the Olympic Bobsleigh in Lillehammer, so we now go mad in the Summertime.
Marbella was great fun (sorry to the BeachClub where we drank all the Rosé) — but Ibiza wins the prize for total hedonism… so back we went again…
As one of the most experienced sports branding practices on the planet it’s been the year we were delighted to be the authors of the new strategic, visual and verbal identity for The World Para Athletics Championships and The IAAF World Championships, London 2017. We saw the UK hit the podium on the world leaderboard and even the brand mascot hit the headlines for all the right reasons!
So, as one of the busiest summers we have ever seen hit the studio, it was the natural choice to shut up shop a day early and zap off to our annual Summer Party! (thank you to all our very understanding clients!)
Next month sees a bumper crop of brands go live that we’ve been working on launching, relaunching and managing.
It was time — for one day only, to stop working on transforming brands in property both in the UK & India, developing one of the largest transport brands on the planet, rebranding a fundamental part of the UK education sector, creating radical FinTech brands re-writing the rules of finance — and helping to strengthen global democracy with a new brand project our digital Cloudlines platform is supporting (We know… big, right?)
As part of this years client list, we were lucky enough to be asked to work with the incredible team behind El Row — the hosts of the most exciting parties on the planet from Barcelona to London to Ibiza…
It was the first contract we have ever signed that promised VIP entry to a nightclub!
We took a break from reinventing Telecoms in Norway, finding new ways to help UK Charities. A breather from concocting smarter Sports brands from Dubai to London, and a quick respite from re-inventing the perceptions of an entire European country… to go and enjoy the realities of the gorgeous ‘White Island’.
As you can probably see from this pages endless ‘humble-brag’, nearly all of this years projects share three traits. They are all Big, Complex and Famous.
They’ve all chosen SomeOne to help them make change pay. Which seems to be rapidly becoming our new mantra!
Don’t worry, if you are working with us at the moment, we are well and truly back in the game now and are loving the current (and new) projects that are keeping us so busy.
Thanks for letting us take Friday off!
A huge thank you goes out to everyone involved with SomeOne, the current, past (and future!) clients. All our collaborators, and of course the team behind SomeOne without whom none of this would have possible.
Ibiza delivered a cracking way to celebrate another year in branding, the most exciting part of commercial creativity. Now… back to making change pay!
