There are many London law firms, but few of note. Standing out means avoiding the sector trap of generic, corporate anonymity. While many traditional City firms remain distant behind ivory towers and automated client portals, local practices often struggle to articulate the true calibre of their expertise.
Previously called ‘Streathers’ after the founder, a new name looked to move the conversation—and the firm—forward. With two new managing partners at the helm, Streathers Daynes Smith (SDS) now occupies a unique space: a high-calibre legal practice with a warm, accessible High Street presence across key London neighbourhoods.
The existing identity was overly modest—anchored by a forgettable grey palette and generic corporate communication that failed to capture their key differentiator: pairing City-grade legal prowess with accessible, hyper-local empathy.
The goal: Raise the game in the legal sector by transforming SDS from “a nice local firm” into a distinctive brand that marries deep legal expertise with unbeatable local understanding.
When legal matters arise, clients aren’t looking for a row; they are looking for a resolution. They want world-class advice, swift responsiveness, and genuine emotional intelligence, without the intimidating, impersonal layer of a distant corporate machine.
To embody this, our new brand strategy centres on the line ‘In Your Corner.’
‘In Your Corner’ acts as a flexible narrative engine and positioning framework:
For Property: In your corner — From around the corner.
For Business: In your corner — For life & legacy.
For Disputes: In your corner — For progress, not endless process.
For Family: In your corner — Bringing calm to chaotic.
Unusually for such a modern practice, SDS maintains a physical, walk-in presence on London High Streets. “In Your Corner” bridges this physical accessibility with relentless client advocacy: combining the legal clout of a major City firm with the walk-in convenience of a trusted neighbourhood advisor.
To bring ‘In Your Corner’ to life visually and verbally, the identity centres on the concept of ‘The Hand of the Specialist.’ Legalities are often won or lost in the margins, where the personal touch, sharp intuition, and attention to detail make all the difference.
The typographic system pairs structural authority with human warmth. The new typography delivers editorial elegance and clean, modern clarity across headlines and body copy.
Body copy and headlines are paired with expressive, handwritten annotations—crafted to embody partner-led attention to detail where every ‘i”‘ is dotted and every ‘t’ is crossed.
A new, distinctive SDS monogram logo provides an unmistakable stamp of quality. This bespoke monogram forms the foundation of a localised badging system that proudly displays the firm’s specific neighbourhood outposts—including N1 (Angel), N6 (Highgate), N8 (Crouch End), and NW3 (Hampstead)—anchoring their expertise directly into the postcodes they serve.
Moving away from cold stock photography or generic office shots, the brand introduces broad, expressive hand-drawn illustrations and paintings featuring iconic scenes and architectural landmarks across their London neighbourhoods. These vibrant art pieces celebrate the local streets, parks, and high street corners where SDS lawyers live and work.
Most law firms talk about themselves in the same distant, corporate shorthand. With Streathers Daynes Smith, we saw an opportunity to break out of the bland. ‘In Your Corner’ is an active commitment to human connection, pairing sharp City intellect with the uncommon warmth of real High Street presence.
SDS clients don’t want AI, apps, or a firm hidden in the cloud. They want brilliant legal minds who are approachable and genuinely understand their world. This new identity captures exactly who they are: trusted specialists who are here for you, right on your High Street.
By bringing ‘The Hand of the Specialist’ into every aspect of the visual identity—from bespoke illustrations of our local London postcodes to our new monogram—we are signalling a clear shift in the sector. We are raising the bar for client-centric law, where elite legal advice is always within reach.
Beyond the surface, the work has united the firm, with a new clarified shared purpose. Working across multiple offices across London is always going to be a challenge with it comes to arriving at a single point of view. But here, the brand work has radically helped a firm harness the power of commercial creativity.
One clear position. One firm. One brand.
The new programme has transformed the Streathers Daynes Smith brand into a modern legal benchmark. By replacing generic law firm tropes with rich, expressive human assets, SDS asserts its position as a client-centric powerhouse—bringing together city-level legal prowess and genuine neighbourhood presence across London.
SomeOne has created a brand that captures everything we stand for: approachable, professional and fiercely committed to our clients. The thoughtful details, from the illustrations to the handwritten accents, bring our personality to life and reinforce the values that matter most to us. The feedback since launch has been overwhelmingly positive, and we couldn’t be happier.
